Today, we have a breaking news story that could read straight from the chronicles of the Coolidge College Student newspaper… following Darius Grayson’s Pulitzer award winning expose babbling about the differences between light and dark beer, of course.

608 Brewery opened up for business today at 3:00 PM. The La Crosse, Wisconsin brewery released a highly anticipated new beer based on the much publicized extra curricular exploits of the recently fired UWL chancellor Joe Gow. The new beer was an absolute smash hit with hops aficionados as they sold out in only 36 minutes.
With a name fit for a Van Halen album, Hot for Chancellor is a fruited sour with cherries, apricots, peaches and vanilla. 608 Brewing owner and head brewer Phil Humphrey described the brew as “a little tart, not super sour.” It has a 5% ABV.
Side editorial: Sorry to interrupt this attempt at a professional news story, but from a bartender and marketing minor’s point of view, I feel like there was a missed opportunity to focus the flavors within the “little nutty with a thick frothy pour” range.
608 Brewery has a reputation for coming up with unique and creative new beers and merging that with current events and pop culture.
“We feel like we make pretty good beer. And then, if we can get creative with our packaging. The fact we do so many things, we invest a lot of time and money into our designs and everything. We try to stay relevant when things are going on.”
– Humphrey
To cap off this story in a style that would make Gwenn Pearson proud, I’d like to close with this statement. As you’re all aware, Gow was almost expelled. But what you probably don’t know is that he was set up by a pathetic, ego maniacal frat boy… one that this reporter knows first hand, has a serious problem with premature ejaculation. Wait, that’s not my closing statement. That’s Gwenn’s from Van Wilder.
My closing statement is, while we’re talking about new beer, hey 608 Brewing, what about a Code Blue Cam beer?
More on former Chancellor Joe Gow:
Gow was the UW-La Crosse chancellor since 2007. On Dec. 27, the UW Board of Regents fired Gow for his “abhorrent” and “reckless” behavior, and for subjecting the university to “significant reputational harm” via the adult videos he and his wife had been publishing.
He doesn’t plan on going down without a fight citing that the firing infringes on his first amendment rights. While we hope he plans to double check the definition of “free speech rights”, we also sincerely welcome his presence at any future scheduled Beer Run events.

“This is some brew you got here. Decorated in early f*ck.”
– Professor McDoogle
